Spar’s Jerry Marwood joins Skillsmart Retail patrons


Spar UK managing director Jerry Marwood has become a patron of sector skills council Skillsmart Retail, joining key industry figures including Sir Terry Leahy, CEO of Tesco, Sir Stuart Rose, CEO of Marks & Spencer, and Justin King, CEO of Sainsbury’s.

In his new role, Marwood will act as an ambassador for the sector skills council.

Skillsmart Retail chief executive Anne Seaman said: “We are delighted to have added such a well-respected business leader to our patrons and contributing to our work.

“Jerry Marwood has extensive knowledge of the retail trade that will offer us a deep insight into the industry.

“With his skills and experience, I am sure that he will bring a host of fresh ideas and help us to deliver our goal of creating a retail sector that provides high quality skills training and development to its workforce.”

Marwood is also chairman of the Association of Convenience Stores (ACS).
