The launch this week of a new delivery drop box is “set to revolutionise the online shopping and home deliveries”.
Shopbox is described as the world’s first-ever multi-temperature secure drop box. Featuring three temperature-controlled compartments, frozen, refrigerated and ambient, shopbox is different to other delivery boxes currently available on the market as it is said to allow products to be delivered when the customer isn’t home.
More than £1bn is currently said to be lost each year in failed and repeat home deliveries, but shopbox “offers retailers the perfect solution to this problem, providing a safe place to securely deliver goods whilst the customer is out”.
Invented by Stuart Archbold, chairman of Leeds-based Archbold Logistics Limited, the concept was developed following the company’s experience of the inconvenience and expense of failed deliveries.
Unveiled earlier this year on Dragons’ Den, shopbox caused a stir amongst the Dragons resulting in Peter Jones proposing a record investment of £1m – the largest sum ever offered on the programme.
Andy Leslie, chief executive of Shopbox, said: “The Shopbox concept is simple and long overdue. Online shopping is the ultimate convenience and as such is rapidly growing in popularity, yet so often the delivery of these purchases can cause great inconvenience both to retailers and the customer.”
Stuart Archbold, inventor of Shopbox said: “Running a logistics company, I have experienced firsthand the expense that missed and repeat deliveries has on a business. shopbox offers the perfect solution to these costs, allowing deliveries to be made at any point in the day.”
