Sainsbury’s recalls Taste the Difference pies

Sainsbury’s has recalled a batch of its own Taste the Difference Steak and Ale Pie because one of the ingredients is celery – something not noted on the label.

People who are allergic to celery have been urged by the Food Standards Agency not to eat the item because it could be a possible health risk.

The supermarket has recalled the 250g pie with a use by date of 12 September 2008 and all of the major allergy support bodies have been told about the situation.

Customers have been informed on what they can do if they have already purchased the item in question, while signs are being displayed in stores explaining why the steak & ale pie with this date is no longer available.

Nothing else in the Sainsbury’s range is affected by the recall.

Back in January, the retailer recalled its own fruit and nut dark chocolate bar because it was encased in the incorrect packaging.
