Ryvita enters crisps market


Ryvita is unveiling its first venture on the crisps aisle with Ryvita Limbos, redefining ‘truly healthier snacking’ in this sector on the back of its history as leader of the crackers and crispbread market.


The Ryvita brand has a unique and enviable credibility in being trusted by consumers for being truly healthy.

Using their expertise for producing great tasting healthier snacks, Ryvita has produced Ryvita Limbos, a baked crispy snack that will set new standards for the crisps category. The healthier crisps market is currently worth £136million, growing at 14% year-on-year.

Building on the brand’s heritage of consistently delivering truly healthier, tasty products, now is the perfect time for the launch of Ryvita Limbos, a snack that is baked, not fried and is 90% less fat than regular crisps.

Consumer awareness of healthy eating is growing, in fact a recent survey found that 72% of consumers would actively try and avoid fatty products.

Insight such as this has enabled Ryvita to develop a product that fits naturally in the crisps market and is a product that the consumer not only understands but also demands.

Ryvita’s marketing director, Nigel Nelms said: “Health conscious consumers are demanding more and more from the crisp category, looking for products that provide healthy snacking credentials without compromising on taste.

“The trend of baking crisps to reduce fat content has been received well by consumers, but given Ryvita’s truly healthy snacking credentials we wanted to develop an alternative that would take baked snacks to a new gold standard level; and so we have responded to consumer demand and are delighted to launch new Ryvita Limbos.

“Consumers and Ryvita fans will be pleased to know that they are 90% less fat than regular crisps and at around 70 calories per bag they will become the most demanded crisp snack on the market. Bang on trend, they’re baked not fried, contain 82% wholegrain and are made with 100% British wheat. We are looking forward to making a significant impact within the crisp aisle.”

Ryvita Limbos will be available in both single (RRP 49p) and multi-pack format (RRP £1.69 for a pack of 5).

Targeting not only women living a healthy balanced lifestyle, but families as well. In line with this wider market, Ryvita Limbos are available in three popular flavours, Cheese & Onion, Salt & Vinegar and Smokey Bacon.

All variants have no artificial colours or preservatives and are a good source of fibre. Offering a tasty healthy snack that both mums and the family will happily eat at lunchtime, and any time between meals when they fancy a crunchy bite.

Ryvita Limbos will be available from May. The Ryvita Limbos launch will be supported by a through the line campaign from May, including in-store sampling and POS.
