Retailers face failure after Christmas

Many UK retailers could go bankrupt towards the end of the year and the beginning of next because of the current financial crisis, it has been claimed.

Insolvency specialist Begbies Traynor said that support could be given to retailers until the new year and many firms are on its watch list.

Businesses that are the least diverse are likely to see the largest problems after Christmas, remarked partner at Begbies Mark Fry.

And he said that companies in a bad position will find it difficult to obtain help in the current climate.

Recently a study carried out by GfK NOP found that consumers have begun to feel less confident about the current financial situation.
