Now entering their 13th year, the Retail Industry Awards have become firmly established as the “Oscars” of the grocery industry, rewarding excellence in a raft of retail categories.

The 2008 Retail Industry Awards will be held on 25 September 2008 at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

There are 17 awards categories for retailers to take part in this year plus the judges’ award for Outstanding Achievement, presented by Nexus Business Media.

There are opportunities for individual retailers and entrepreneurs, independent stores, store managers, convenience chains, symbol groups, multiple supermarkets and international convenience store formats.

And the awards cover a range of retail disciplines spanning staff training and community involvement to fresh flower and off-licence retailing.

We have one new category, Online Retailer of the Year, sponsored by Talking Retail.

We are also delighted to announce a new partnership with the leading global convenience consultants, srcg.

Srcg will be helping us to manage the judging process for the Independent Retailer and Independent Entrepreneur of the Year categories.

As well as working more closely with srcg, we have strengthened our ties with two further leading industry organisations, the IGD and Nielsen.

We are delighted to welcome on board new sponsors in the 2008 Retail Industry Awards:

Coca-Cola Enterprises (Symbol/Fascia Group)

Kellogg’s (Store Manager)

Christie & Co (Convenience Chain)

Direct Line for Business (Community Retailer)

Southern Salads (Fresh Produce Retailer)

Coors (Off-Licence Retailer)

Our thanks also for the continued support of existing sponsors:

Shop-Equip (Independent Newsagent)

Booker (Independent Entrepreneur of the Year)

Procter & Gamble (Training Initiative)

Seafish (Seafood Retailer)

Flower Council of Holland (Fresh Flower Supermarket)

Mars (Forecourt), GSK (Independent Retailer of the Year)

Gallaher (Supermarket)

Insight/NACS (Global Convenience Format)

Competition in the grocery industry has never been so strong and we will look forward to receiving your entries and to an outstanding awards event in 2008.
