Retail employees keen to improve current jobs, not switch


Nearly half (44%) of employees in the retail sector would rather improve their current jobs than switch to a new one, according to a survey by the Learning and Skills Council.


Just 25% said they would prefer to look for a new job.

Less than half (49%) of retail workers surveyed said they were likely to ask their employers for training to help develop their roles, even though:

• 47% said it would make them more likely to stay with the company
• 43% said it would make them feel more motivated and
• 48% said it would make them feel more valued
