New Tesco Metro to open in St Albans

tesco_chippenhamTesco is to open a new store in St Albans city centre on the site of a former Woolworths outlet.

The Tesco Metro supermarket on St Peter’s Street is set to begin trading in the summer of 2010.

Tesco confirmed that the existing Tesco Metro on St Peter’s Street, measuring
5,000 sq m, would close down and be replaced by the new store, which has double the floor space.

Tesco’s plan for a superstore on the former Eversheds printing works in London Road, St Albans was turned down by district council planners in 2008.
