New Lidl store to open in Devon

lidl_2Discount retailer Lidl is to open a new store in Kingsteighton, Devon on 5 November 2009.

Lidl said the store had cost £3 million and would create 25 new jobs for the area.

The 1,000sq m store is on an old agricultural site on Newton Road. As well as food, it will sell toys and domestic items.

A spokesman for Lidl said, “Kingsteighton and Newton Abbot are large settlements and the area was an obvious place for a Lidl store. At the moment the nearest ones are in Exeter or Torquay.

For people who wanted to shop at our discount supermarkets this would have meant unnecessarily long journeys.”
