Morrisons donates CD sales to Haiti Appeal

Morrisons is the first retailer to announce it will be donating 100% of sales proceeds from the Helping Haiti single straight to the Haiti fund.

The remake of REM’s Everybody Hurts features 21 top celebrities such as Robbie Williams and Kylie Minogue. All the money raised from the sales of the single will be split between the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) and The Sun newspaper’s Helping Haiti fund.

Martyn Jones, group trading director at Morrisons, said: “The Haiti Earthquake has caused such devastation and we want to offer our support. We hope the profits raised from this single all go to helping the victims.”

Donations will help the devastated Island of Haiti after an earthquake measuring 7.0 on the Richter scale displaced an estimated three million people. Emergency relief from people around the globe has been shipped to those affected.

The CD hit Morrisons’ shelves on Monday.
