Morrisons awarded the ‘Red Tractor’ quality mark

Morrisons has become the first major UK supermarket to be awarded Red Tractor certification across its entire fresh meat range, reaffirming its commitment to British farming.

Morrisons has worked closely with Assured Food Standards, the independent body that manages the Red Tractor scheme, to achieve the independent quality mark.

When Morrisons’ customers see the Red Tractor symbol they can have the utmost confidence that the highest standards have been met throughout the meat production chain, from farm to pack.

Morrisons’ customers already have the certainty that all the fresh meat they buy is 100% British; the Red Tractor gives them the guarantee that it has been produced to rigorous standards of food safety, hygiene, animal welfare and environmental protection.

Morrisons group trading director, Martyn Jones, said: “Being awarded the Red Tractor demonstrates our commitment to ensuring our customers can have complete confidence in the way our meat has been produced and vindicates our decision to source all our fresh meat from British farms.

“We are starting the process of changing our branding so that the Red Tractor symbol with the Union Jack can be proudly displayed on every pack of fresh beef, lamb, pork chicken* and turkey being sold to our customers.”
