Marks & Spencer is set to cut head office jobs after deciding not to go ahead with future expansion plans.
It is unknown at present how many jobs will be lost but reports have said it is likely to be in double figures, although lower than 100.
Recently, the company said that like-for-like food sales dropped by 5.9% in the 13 weeks until 27 September.
According to a spokesman at the retailer, a consultation process in terms of jobs is ongoing and the economy is being monitored, said the Daily Telegraph.
“We are consulting with staff at the moment. We review our structures all the time to address changes in the economy,” he said.
Last week, the man sacked by M&S after he informed the press about changes to its redundancy package was unsuccessful in an appeal agianst the dismissal.
