Lidl and Co-op big Quality Food Awards winners


Lidl and the Co-operative Group (Co-op) were the big winners at last night’s Quality Food Awards, each taking home three awards.

But the top award of the night – the Gold Q – was handed over to Ugo Foods Group for Del’Ugo 6 Handcrafted Crab & Crayfish Raviolo.

The discount retailer Lidl was successful in the accompaniments category for its Morello Cherry Extra Jam Conserve, in the cheese category for Parmigiano Reggiano DOP and in confectionery for Premium Chocolate Squares.

In Desserts & Puddings, the Co-op beat off competiton to take the prize for its Truly Irresistable Bread and Butter Bincoche Pudding, produced by Greencore Frozen Foods, and in the free from products category for its Free From Christmas pudding

Its Truly Irresistable Baby Beetreet in a Sweet Chili Marinade, Axgro Foods, in the fresh meat, game and poultry category, also won.

Morrisons and Asda also took home two awards each. Other brands such as Pret a Manger, Cawston Vale and Higgidy were given accolades.
