Richard Lancaster, Netto’s former managing director, will join Morrisons at the beginning of 2009, taking on the role of senior trading director.
Lancaster, who left the discount retailer earlier this month, will be in charge of the ambient grocery category, as well as beers and wines.
Morrisons group trading director Martyn Jones said: “I am delighted that Richard is joining Morrisons.
“With his wealth of trading and retail experience, he will be a great addition to the senior trading team as we continue to drive forward our business performance through a sharp focus on fresh food and great value.”
A number of other management changes will also take place. Andrew Pleasance is set to become senior trading director, while Simon Harrison will be licensed trade and trade strategy director.
