Kenneth Clark will be keynote speaker at BRC event

Kenneth Clarke will be the keynote speaker at the British Retail Consortium’s (BRC’s) annual Retail Industry Dinner, in partnership with MasterCard Europe.

The Shadow Business Secretary, will address an audience of over 1,200 key decision makers from the retail sector, Government and civil service at the dinner.

This year’s event is taking place on 22 September at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.

Stephen Robertson, British Retail Consortium director general, said: “I’m delighted Ken Clarke has agreed to address this year’s annual dinner. Whatever the election result, 2010 will be the most significant year in British politics for a long time.

“Before September, there will be some hugely important developments. As a key player now, and a major figure in British politics for at least the last 30 years, it will be essential to hear what Ken Clarke has to say.”

Hany Fam, general manager, MasterCard UK & Ireland, said: “2010 will be an important year for the retail community. An evolving economic environment in which consumers are seeking greater value, the General Election, the trend towards ‘staycations’, as opposed to holidaying abroad, and an exciting summer of sport will offer both opportunities and challenges for retailers.”
