Kellogg and Mars rapped over misleading ads

Food firms Kellogg and Mars UK have both been rapped by the Advertising Standards Authority over separate TV adverts for their products.

Kellogg has landed in hot water over a commercial for its Special K Sustain breakfast cereal. The advert claimed that the product contained extra protein and fibre, which the ASA determined to be misleading following complaints from viewers.

The advert was found to have breached three separate clauses of the ASA’s code rules and was ordered not to repeat the ad again in its current form.

In a separate incident, Mars UK were forced to pull their advert for Pedigree Joint Care Plus dog food.

The ASA ruled the advert misleadingly implied the product could provide a medicinal benefit to those dogs suffering from joint damage.
