Final call for retail star apprentices and their employers

Outstanding retail apprentices and their employers are being urged to enter the Apprenticeship Awards, as the deadline for nominations is fast approaching.

The awards, run by the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS) and sponsored by City & Guilds, celebrate the achievements of apprentices and the businesses that employ them.

The regional awards ceremonies will be taking place at locations up and down the country where lucky winners from each of the eight categories, including Regional Apprentice of the Year and Small Employer of the Year, will win a coveted trip to the national finals in London.

Simon Waugh, chief executive of the National Apprenticeship Service, said: “With 48,000 people starting apprenticeships in retail and commercial enterprise in 2008/2009, we want to recognise the valuable contribution that apprentices make to the economy.

“With the nomination deadline almost upon us, it’s important that entries are sent as soon as possible so that Apprenticeships can be celebrated both regionally and nationally.”

Entries must be received by 26 February 2010.
