David Leigh has been appointed development manager of Asda’s beers, wine and spirits team. He joins from Grampian Country Foods where he held the position of category marketing controller.
Having started his career with the retailer in 1996, Leigh will now work alongside Karen Doran, Philippa Carr and CJ Antal-Smith in the department. He is set to deliver “customer-led” initiatives.
BII, the professional body for the licensed retail sector, has appointed Neil Robertson as chief executive. He will take over from John McNamara in January, when McNamara becomes chief executive at the Alliance of Sector Skills Councils.
Robertson has 12 years’ experience at senior management positions along with “wide commercial experience”.
Martin Lightbody is now chief executive at Finsbury Foods, having taken over from Dave Brooks, who has become a consultant to the board until next March.
Elsewhere, Pernod Ricard has appointed two brand ambassadors. Meimi Sanchez – who has “extensive experience” as a mixologist – becomes Havana Club brand ambassador, while Phil Huckle is now Chivas Regal brand ambassador.
He has been a bartender for almost 18 years. The company is attempting to raise awareness around the two “prestigious” brands.
Hayley Osborne is promoted to trade and marketing manager at Select & Save. She previously had a similar role at Key Lekkerland and she will be “developing long-term relationships with all of [it's] top-branded suppliers”.
Leathams has recruited Clive Moxham as new director of the retail and ingredients division (including the brand Merchant Gourmet). He said: “I am delighted to be rejoining the dynamic teams at Leathams Plc at this very exciting time for the business.”
ChoicesUK, which supplies computer games and DVDs to convenience stores, has completed its sales team with Phil Beal and Cyrus Davies. Beal is sales manager armed with the task of developing the outfit’s wholesale sector.
Davies is national account manager, responsible for seeking out and converting new business.
Provider of integrated technology solutions, Torex, has announced Steve Rowley as new chief executive. Rowley has held the same position at Anite for the last five years.
He said he will attempt to expand the business within the retail marketplace.
Logistics expert Tradeteam places Chris Roberts as its primary director, responsible for the firm’s distribution from the Burton on Trent, Alton and Tadcaster sites.
