Food retailers have beaten non-food retailers when it comes to good customer service, says a survey out today.
Retailers in the food sector scored an average 80 out of 100 in the UK Customer Service Index, beating non-food retailers by a single point.
Waitrose was the top grocery retailer, on 86 points, beating Marks & Spencer (food) on 85 points.
Asda followed on their heels with 81 points, just ahead of Sainsbury’s and Iceland (both 80).
Tesco scored 79 out of 100, as did Lidl. Morrisons and Aldi each polled 77 points, while the Co-op came bottom with 75 points.
Overall, John Lewis was the best retailer for customer satisfaction.
The retail sector as a whole has gained almost four points in the index since January 2008 and is the top sector for customer satisfaction, ahead of tourism (79) and consumer services (78).
The index surveys some 26,000 consumers.
