Competition Commission grocery report out on Wednesday

The Competition Commission has confirmed that it will be publishing its final report into the UK groceries market on Wednesday 30 April 2008 at 7.00am.

The report will conclude the two-year probe into the state of competition in the market.

Preliminary findings released earlier this year concluded that supermarkets were broadly delivering a good deal to consumers.

The Sunday Telegraph said yesterday that the commission was due to spark anger among supermarket bosses by demanding they foot much of the bill for the proposed industry ombudsman.

This “supply tsar” would oversee retailers’ relationships with their suppliers.
