The manager of a farm in Herefordshire has been named the UK’s best grower of ‘top fruit’ (fruit grown on trees) at a prestigious industry awards ceremony.
William Barnett, who runs The Co-operative Farms fruit farm at Tillington, near Hereford, won the Top Fruit Grower of the Year title at Horticulture Week magazine’s Grower of the Year awards.
William is farm manager at the 900-acre top fruit farm, which grows both cider and dessert apples, supplying Co-operative food stores across the UK.
Barnett said: “It‘s a very prestigious award and one I am very pleased to have won. But it’s not just my award, it also recognises the hard work and dedication of everyone at Tillington Farm, as well the many people who have worked here over the years to help establish it as such a success.”
