The Co-operative and Somerfield are hoping to raise £300,000 for children’s charity The Variety Club, with a partnership deal with supplier Procter & Gamble (P&G).
Until 7 September inclusive, P&G will donate 2p from the sale of selected household and health and beauty products when purchased by Co-operative Food and Somerfield customers.
P&G products include household names such as Pantene, Always, Fairy, Lenor, Flash and Ariel. At the end of the period, The Co-operative is hoping to have raised £300,000 or more for The Variety Club.
The Variety Club has been helping sick, disadvantaged and disabled children in the UK for over 60 years, bringing freedom, independence and hope through Sunshine Coaches, Easy Riders electric wheelchairs, outings to exciting places, equipping children’s hospitals and helping in many other ways.
The Co-operative will be highlighting the fundraising initiative with an advertising campaign featuring a young girl called Elizabeth, whose life has been improved markedly since receiving her Variety Club Easy Riders wheelchair.
As an added incentive, many of the products will be on special offer for selected weeks during the promotion.
