Co-op advert makes history

The Co-operative Group’s (Co-op’s) new television commercial will take up the whole of the advertising break during Coronation Street when it debuts in under two weeks.

It is the first time a single advert as occupied the entire break in the popular soap opera.

Marketing director Patrick Allen said: “The Co-op is extremely proud of this campaign and we are delighted that we have been able to secure the exclusive revealing of our new brand in such a high profile manner.

“Our brand vision is ‘Good For Everyone’ so it’s only right that we had a launch that could be seen by millions of people across the country.”

Last week the Co-op said Bob Dylan’s iconic tune “Blowin’ in the Wind” will be used in the commercial, the first time he has ever licensed the track for an advert.

The retailer has re-branded all of its operations over the last two years.
