Cameron gets election campaign rolling with cash and carry visit

Conservative leader David Cameron has paid his first election campaign visit to Wales, speaking to business leaders at Bestway cash and carry.

Cameron spoke against Labour’s proposal to increase National Insurance contributions, saying: “The worst thing we can do is put a tax on jobs.”

He told the audience in Cardiff Labour had identified £11bn of waste within government but were not proposing to do anything about it until 2011.

He also spoke of the need to remove unnecessary bureaucracy from the centre of government while protecting public sector jobs such as those in the NHS, teaching, the police and the military.

“We need to trim the fat at the centre of the state,” he said.

Cameron also paid a visit to Warburtons Bakery in Bolton during his election campaign to canvass for votes.
