Cadbury Schweppes demerger set for May

Cadbury Schweppes has revealed that the demerger of its North American drinks business from its confectionery business is set to take place in May.

The confectionery colossus has brought forward shareholder meetings to 11 April to approve the demerger.

In October last year Cadbury Schweppes announced that the separation of its US drinks business Dr Pepper Snapple Group (DPSG) and Cadbury plc would be carried out by a demerger, which would create two independent companies with their own management teams and boards.

The demerger is expected to be complete by 7 May, with Cadbury plc to be listed on the London Stock Exchange on 2 May, and DPSG to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange on 7 May.
