Gordon Brown has said that fuel companies should follow the lead of supermarkets and drop their fuel prices.
After both Morrisons and Asda said that the price at the pumps will be lowered, Brown said that the move is “something” and people want to see that prices are going down when the price of oil drops.
However, Tesco has said that it will not lower the price of petrol at its forecourts again, after it cut 3p off fuel last week.
“From Monday, we will also be offering customers an extra 5p off per litre of fuel when they spend £50 in store. On top of this, there is the 1p saving for every £1 spent with Clubcard,” a spokesman said.
