Bottled water rationed in Northern Ireland over tap water fears


Fears about drinking water quality on the eastern side Northern Ireland have led supermarkets to start rationing bottled water.

According to the Belfast Telegraph, some 220,000 households in Co Antrim and Co Down, including Belfast, were told to boil water used for cooking and drinking.

A Tesco spokesman said it had noticed a big increases in bottled water demand.

It was switching supplies from other parts of Ireland, and would impose a per person limit on the amount sold.

Even hospitals have been buying in bottled water, and many restaurants are not offering tap water to customers.
