Asda is to sell Dom Perignon vintage champagne for just £30 a bottle – some 70% cheaper than other retailers.
Bottles will be sold in all Asda Supercentres and other selected stores for a limited period.
The same 1999 vintage sells for around £200 a bottle at top London hotels.
It retails for £89.99 at Waitrose and Sainsbury’s and £89.00 at Tesco.
Asda chief executive Andy Bond recently outlined his company’s ambition to attract more top-end shoppers from socio-economic groups A and B.
