Asda tea towel sales surge as school nativity season looms

asda frontAsda has reported a surge in sales of tea towels as parents across the UK prepare for their children’s nativity plays.

Asda said tea towel sales had rocketed by more than 30% over the last few weeks as busy parents and teachers rushed to make DIY shepherd costumes for school plays.

The most popular selling item has been a pack of three Smartprice tea towels for 91p – a clear leader in parents’ choice of head-dress.

Asda also said sales of its George nativity range had risen 21% year-on-year.

Asda is offering its staff the opportunity to take “Nativity Leave” to watch their children’s nativity plays.

By taking advantage of the company’s shift swap flexible working programme, employees can swap their working hours with colleagues to ensure they don’t miss out on the action.
