Asda has cut its petrol prices to 90.9p per litre, the tenth consecutive drop in prices made by the firm since July this year.
Diesel will now cost motorists 105.9p a litre at all of the supermarket’s 172 forecourts from today (19 November), Asda said.
The retail giant unveiled the cuts after the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said inflation fell to 4.5% in October, thanks largely to falling petrol and food prices.
Discounting in a range of supermarkets contributed to the cheaper price of food in the year to October, the ONS said.
Darren Blackhurst, Asda trading director, said: “With oil prices still falling, there is no need for petrol prices to be so high – it is simply ripping off motorists.”
A fuel war was sparked by the UK’s leading supermarkets last month, as the price of oil began to drop.
