Supermarket giant Asda is launching what it claims is its most aggressive ever Christmas price campaign.
Asda said it would introduce thousands of new rollbacks from today, adding to more than 4,000 price cuts announced earlier this month.
Asda president and CEO Andy Bond claimed: “Our core purpose is to make goods and services more affordable.
“In the run-up to Christmas and month end, when household budgets are under greater pressure than ever, we know how important it is to save our customers money. That’s why we have launched our most aggressive Christmas price campaign ever.
The latest round of price cuts include making all TVs and DVD players VAT-free this weekend.
Christmas food and drink is also being reduced. The supermarket’s offers include:
- Wines at 3 for £10, and spirits from £5.
- Pork joints reduced to £2 per kg
- Christmas puddings at £1
- Packs of six mince pies at two for £1
- Two litres of Coke at three for £3
- Cadbury’s selection boxes (normally £2.98) at two for £3
