Asda had another strong month of sales in November, boosted by its core food range, parent company Wal-Mart said today.
Wal-Mart said like-for-like sales in the US grew 3.4% in the four weeks to 28 November 2008, down to “record” grocery sales and more customers coming through the doors.
Reacting to the UK figures, Vice chairman Mike Duke said: “Despite the economy, sales remained strong on a constant currency basis, confirming that our customers need every day low prices in these difficult times.”
Asda last week passed the VAT cut on to its customers early.
In November, it was announced current Wal-Mart chief executive Lee Scott is to be replaced by Duke in the new year.
