Amazon trials grocery delivery service

Amazon is trialling a fresh grocery delivery service close to its home town of Seattle in the US.

According to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Amazon Fresh is a continuation of the gourmet food business the company started in 2003 and the dry grocery service begun last summer.

The service includes organic and non-organic fruits and vegetables, dairy products, ice cream, meat, fish, health and personal care items, cereal, crisps and soft drinks.

Goods are delivered to customers homes in Amazon’s own refrigerated trucks.

Amazon says the trial, which began on Wednesday on Mercer Island, next to Seattle, is at a very early stage.
