Haines City division vice president for Aldi David Behm said that this is a “perfect time” for the area to see the arrival of a low-cost grocer, as it has witnessed a number of store closures in recent years.

Aldi said that this is because of “high consumer demand” and therefore consumers will welcome the “high-quality … popular alternatives”.

“It’s pretty clear the traditional supermarket shopper is looking for a better value, and we’re pleased to be able to provide that,” Behm asserted.

The discount supermarket recently said that it is planning to open about 200 stores in London as it looks to expand.
