Waitrose convenience store for Bristol

Tuesday, 02 December 2008
Waitrose's second UK convenience store will be based in Bristol, the company revealed today.

The company said conversion work on the unit at Clifton Pavilion in the city will begin in the new year, with an opening planned for spring.

Its announcement came after the company opened its first ever stores in the Middle East, for which TalkingRetail.com got exclusive pictures.

Director of development Nigel Keen said: "We know there's a real passion for quality food here and welcome the opportunity to bring Waitrose to Bristol for the first time.

"We believe you shouldn't have to compromise on the standard of your shopping experience just because a store is smaller and designed for convenience."

Up to 60 job opportunities will be opened up at the site, which is almost 7,000 sq ft.

Last week, managing director Mark Price said the company is seeing the benefits of cutting prices during the economic downturn.
