Retailers urged to apply for forum scholarships

Friday, 21 November 2008
Retailers have been urged to apply for £12,000 worth of scholarships that are available from Skillsmart Retail and Retail Trust.

Six places on the bssa Oxford Retail Masters forum worth £2,000 each are to be offered by the two organisations.

Successful candidates will work with "some of the most respected" experts in the retail industry in March next year.

Anne Seaman, Skillsmart Retail chief executive, said: "Previous winners have reported having their eyes opened to new ideas and business opportunities, and during these tough trading conditions, anything that gives retailers a competitive advantage can only be a good thing."

Retail Trust chief executive Nigel J L Rothband added: "Retail Trust has long recognised the need for increased educational opportunities for people working in retail.

"The aim of this bursary scheme is to assist aspiring managers in achieving their potential and fulfilling their ambitions in retail."

A number of retailers gained similar scholarships awarded by the duo earlier in the year.
