Amal Pramanik has been appointed general manager at Imperial Tobacco, after holding the role for the company in the Netherlands. Previously he has held senior sales and marketing positions at companies such as Pepsico and Gillette. He said that he is "confident" he can "meet the challenges that lie ahead". Pramanik asserted that he has a great deal of experience to fight these forces.
The Association of News Retailing - the news arm of the Association of Convenience Stores - has also been busy. John Barn (of the Co-operative) is now chairman and Steve McCann (from Costcutter) vice-chairman. John Barn has "extensive experience" while McCann has "been involved in neighbourhood retailing for 20 years".
The other big news is that Neil Gibson has been unveiled as the new head of marketing at Vimto Soft Drinks. Gibson now reports to managing director Jonathan Bye and is responsible for a number of sectors such as consumer and category insight, brand management and new product development. He is charged with making sure the Vimto brand now progresses.
Ecover has announced that Rudy De Vis is international sales and marketing manager, joining from Alpro-Group Vandemoortele.
At the other end of the spectrum, Ben Hutchins becomes business development manager at Pilgrims Choice - moving up from the position of national account manager
Consumer insight provider Information Resources has also revealed that Dr Hans Jessen is now executive vice president and managing director European services and global analytics delivery. Jessen was formerly partner and director of global operations at Accenture Marketing Services.
With a "wealth of experience", Michael Bernhoester is now executive vice president and managing director of European operations at Catalina Marketing. The new recruit said that has been "impressed by Catalina's work between manufacturers, retailers and consumers worldwide".
Additionally in this edition of people moves, the Silver Spring Mineral Water Company has announced that Matthew May is now sales manager and Silver Spring Direct.
Oakland International, the supply chain specialist, has also revealed that Paul Evans is new IT and infrastructure manager. He has experience in both the "chilled and ambient distribution environments".
