Supermarkets cut petrol prices |

![]() Asda and Morrisons have both cut the price of petrol to below £1 a litre, as oil company BP did the same. Such a move should mean that consumers are getting better value for money, Asda said as it announced the cut. "Drivers should not be paying more than 99.9p a litre for unleaded fuel based on current oil prices. Past experience tells us that unless they live near an Asda they still will be," trading director Darren Blackhurst said. Chief executive at Morrisons Marc Bolland said that his firm is "absolutely committed" to giving customers value. Andy Clarke, retail director at Asda, recently said that a dip in petrol prices could give people "a bit more breathing space".
