Morrisons takes on checkout technology

Friday, 10 October 2008

Morrisons is set to implement checkout management technology from Irisys, something the integrated systems firm said will improve efficiency.

The supermarket, which was last month given a top accolade at the Retail Industry Awards, has decided to take on the equipment after trialing it at five stores, in a bid to cut down on customer wait times.

Head of retail operations at Morrisons Sylvia Jones asserted that the company wants to be a market leader in this field.

"By investing in this innovative solution from Irisys we aim to deliver real benefits to all our customers in as cost-effective a manner as possible," she said.

The solutions should allow the retailer to see where best to adopt staff so that people are "deployed in the right place at the right time".
