Online shopping 'set for rise this year at Christmas' |

Online Christmas shopping is likely to grow in 2008, according to new research released by the Interactive Media in Retail Group (IMRG). ![]() In total, 68% of the people polled by the organisation said they are more likely to use the medium for presents this year, while 77% asserted that at least half of all their Christmas shopping will be done over the internet. Moreover, a growing number of shoppers are set to use the internet as a medium via which to analyse purchases before they are bought, IMRG noted. Chief executive at the organisation James Roper said that shoppers are becoming more aware about deals that exist online. "It's great to see the high levels of awareness amongst Christmas shoppers on the competitive pricing available online," he commented. He added that consumers are likely to get access to value for money over the festive season because of their ability pick out the cheapest deals. Researcher Gomez recently stated that Asda's website loads infromation the fastest after a survey. Related Articles

... We've seen a 35% increase in usage on our online grocery info site http://www.onlinegrocerystore.co.uk each month for the last three months. It's certainly clear that food buyers are still flocking to the internet. A comment on ASDA, whilst they are still behind the larger players, they seem determined to exploit their US backing (and online knowledge) and we hear that 2009 will be the year they make their push for the top of the pile. |
