A brand new investment programme has been announced by the Scottish government as an attempt to try and make local goods available to consumers in the country.
Under the new initiative, £6m will be given to firms who market and make local produce, while it is hoped that more networks between these organisations will be possible.
Richard Lockhead, cabinet secretary for rural affairs and environment, said that there have been a number of high-quality ideas submitted by those searching for funding.
He stated: "We produce some of the freshest, finest produce in the world but it is not always easy for Scottish suppliers to access markets."
And "greater collaboration" will be possible while supply chains will also be boosted, Lockhead added.
Such developments, he stated, fit in with the country's overall aim of improving the health of consumers.
