Retail Awards nominees announced

Friday, 01 August 2008
The shortlist for the 2008 Retail Industry Awards has been announced, with smaller organisations sitting alongside the big four.

Supermarket of the year will be between Morrisons, Co-Operative, Asda and Tesco, while there are independent categories for smaller grocers.

The Independent Retailer of the Year award, sponsored by GSK, is split into two sections, stores under 3,000 sq ft and those over this size.

Retailers included in the larger category are Richardson's Village Stores from Hampshire and Warners Budgens, Gloucestershire, along with others.

Those in with a chance in the other division are Shobdon Post Office & Stores in Leominster, alongside Premier Singh in Sheffield.

Organisers have said that the judging panel has been strengthened since 2007 so that the high quality and success of the awards will continue.

Online Retailer of the Year is being sponsored by TalkingRetail.com. All of those nominated are set to congregate for the ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on 25 September.
