Yes, this was one fantastic event attended by well over 200 guests of the retail, wholesale, confectionery and ancillary industries from Scotland.
The evening was planned to reintroduce the Scottish Candy Ball after nearly a three-year gap since the last ball.
Easton Millar, acting chairman of the Scottish Committee of the Confectioners Benevolent Fund, said: “The Scottish committee were focussed from day one on getting this historical event back up and running with a modern twist and with real WOW factor.
“We definitely accomplished that, and with the help and support of many sponsors and supporting companies and a top quality hotel in the Radisson, we believe that we have exceeded our expectations.”
Formality was kept to a minimum and enjoyment and dancing was definitely the theme of the night.
The whole evening was MCd by top Scottish DJ Greg Summers. Top band Camus played the night away with pop music and a splash of Scottish dancing.
The dance floor was full all night (that says it all), and Greg Summers saw the event well into the wee small hours with his fantastic disco music.
One surprise was the arrival of two ‘rogue’ singers on stage during the sweet course.
They were Radisson staff who had always wanted to sing!
In reality they were two wonderful opera singers who brought the room to a deadly hush whilst they sang. They were great and a real surprise to all guests.
Everyone left the evening full of praise (and the odd drink or two) for the organising committee and with only one thing in their minds…When is the next ball?
This fantastic event would not have been possible were it not for the support of sponsors and companies who bought tickets, and supplied prizes, sweets and drinks for the raffle and traditional “Goodie Bags”.
Well done, The Scottish Candy Ball is back. Haste ye back!
