Stars talk turkey after charity donation

This Morning TV stars Phil Vickery and Sharon Marshall were happy to talk turkey when they received a £5,000 charity cheque from the British turkey industry.

The TV chef and presenter accepted the cheque on behalf of the children’s medical research charity Sparks after frenzied fundraising at the British Turkey Awards.

Catriona Lee, chairman of the British Turkey Federation’s marketing committee, said: “We are proud to have raised more than £35,000 over the last six years to help Sparks fulfil its pledge to give every child a healthy start in life.”

This year’s annual awards at Claridges, when Sainsbury’s was named British Turkey Retailer of the Year, included hotly contested bidding to win a private swimming lesson with former Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies.

Said Sharon Marshall, who also donated a behind the scenes tour of the This Morning studios in the auction: “A sum of this size can make an enormous difference to SPARK’s work and we are all hugely appreciative of British turkey’s fundraising efforts over the years.”
