Paypoint in free Lucozade Energy offer

Thursday, 03 April 2008
Lucozade Energy and i-movo, the digital voucher specialist, have teamed up with PayPoint, the UK’s leading convenience retail bill payment network, to offer customers a free bottle of Lucozade when they text in to a special mobile short code to receive their special 8 digit code.

From 2 April 2008, Lucozade Energy is offering customers a free bottle to ‘get their edge back’. Customers will be invited to use their mobile vouchers at selected retailers including participating PayPoint outlets across the UK over seven weeks until 21st May 2008.

Reasons to get involved:

• It is a heavyweight campaign from GSK, meaning potentially millions of bottles will be given away

• The scheme is supported by a national advertising campaign, located as closely to PayPoint outlets as possible, which will drive in-store traffic

• Vouchers are distributed mainly by text message to mobile phones, meaning no paper coupons to collect

• PayPoint retailers are automatically reimbursed the full RRP of the product within six working days

• The process is simple and retailers are guided by instructions on the touch screen on the PayPoint terminal

• The voucher redemption process should take no longer than 20 seconds ensuring queues don’t build up in-store

Tips for retailers

• In order to ensure the process moves swiftly, retailers should ask the customer to read the unique 8 digit code from their mobile phone

• Use in-store point of sale materials issued by GSK to educate customers about how the scheme works

Retailer testimonials

Mukesh Mistry owner of Whitehall Convenience Store in Leeds

“Paperless coupon systems are a big step forward for convenience retailers – I used to spend hours sorting and sending back the paper ones. With the i-movo digital voucher scheme, not only do I save all this time and ensure the voucher is valid, I also know I’ll be paid back promptly. As the industry changes, coupons via mobile phones can only be a good thing in my opinion.”

Karl Rasmussen owner of Rasmussen’s Costcutter in Skegness, Lincs

“I thought the Sun/News of the World scheme worked really well and my customers certainly got on board. As the scheme works with high profile big brand names, it makes sense for retailers like me to join in and reap the rewards. Schemes such as this are only going to become more popular so it makes sense to embrace the change, especially when it’s such a simple and quick transaction process to follow.”

Lucozade Energy Brand Manager Chris Walker said: “Giving our consumers the opportunity to receive coupons direct to their mobile phone has great linkage with our very mobile target market. This service is only going to benefit the campaign.”

Mike Igoe, PayPoint’s Retail Director commented: “The i-movo partnership with Lucozade offers our retailers another exciting opportunity to benefit from mobile voucher technology; a technology that will become the norm in the retail industry. With the support of big brand names, we will continue to work with digital voucher specialists to give our retailers a competitive edge to drive traffic into PayPoint outlets.”
