The Wrigley Company is pleased to announce that Airwaves is now the official chewing gum sponsor of the World Rally Championship and the main sponsor of local basketball team the Plymouth Raiders.
World Rally Championship
In addition to being the official chewing gum sponsor of the World Rally Championship, Airwaves has also snapped up the opportunity to support the only British driver, 21 year old Matthew Wilson of the Stobart Team. The World Rally Championship sponsorship forms the perfect alliance with the Airwaves Kick Up A Gear campaign, demonstrating the invigorating experience that chewing Airwaves can bring.
Airwaves Plymouth Raiders
Now the fastest growing sport in the world, Basketball's high energy appeal also fits perfectly with the Airwaves Kick up a Gear mentality. Close to the Wrigley headquarters in Plymouth, Airwaves Plymouth Raiders compete in the British Basketball league and are one of the South West's biggest sporting teams.
Marketing Investment
The sports sponsorships are in addition to a wider multi-media marketing programme that helps to maintain the Airwaves product positioning. Activities to date this year include a heavyweight television campaign, the Airwaves Pro PR initiative and the successful sponsorship of the Airwaves Ducati Superbike Team.
This year also saw Shayne Byrne, a member of the Airwaves Ducati Superbike team, claim The British Superbike Championship 2008 title.
