Independent Retail News and Procter & Gamble (P&G) have joined forces in a search to identify the ‘unsung heroes’ within the independent food retail sector who ‘go the extra mile’ in support of their customers and communities.
The Unsung Heroes award aims to recognise and reward store staff who go above and beyond the call of duty, for example in supporting local good causes such as local schools and charities, or even taking a lead role in the local Neighbourhood Watch.
Paul Lettice, head of trade communications at P&G, said: “We want to identify and profile those retailers whose dedication and unstinting commitment to their local community sees them mark out the convenience channel as being able to do ‘something special’.
“The unsung heroes are those people supporting local schools, those delivering shopping to elderly customers, and also the ones who make a small but significant difference to their communities week in, week out.
“At P&G, we believe these good works should be rewarded and this new campaign will shine a light on the achievements of those who have not been publicly recognised in the past. We hope this will encourage and enthuse other retailers.”
Anyone who wants to nominate a staff member should email details to rizwan.chaudhrey@metropolis.co.uk or write to him at: Metropolis Business Media, FREEPOST RSBU-RHXR-GKZJ, Croydon CR0 1QQ. All entries must be received by 9 February 2012.
