Spar wins 71 awards for own-label wines

Spar UK has been recognised by the international wine trade, gaining a total of 135 awards for its sector-leading wine range – including 71 for its own-brand wines.

Spar’s own-label wine range scooped the 71 wins across The International Wine and Spirits Competition, The Decanter World Wine Awards and the International Wine Challenge awards, all announced at the London International Wine Fair.

The medal haul includes nine Spar brand wines, which were awarded silver, 22 bronze and 40 commended, in the prestigious competitions.

Spar consistently creates a “broad and exciting range of wine, which epitomise both quality and great value”. Offering a vast array of wines at a variety of competitive price points, the wine team has created an “extensive range” fitting for Spar’s broad audience and differing customer needs.

Chris Lewis, licensed trading director, said: “We continually strive for excellence in the sourcing of our wines in order to have an own label-range which we can be extremely proud of.

“We can say with honesty that we have something for everyone regardless of grape preference or price point and it is fantastic to see the range receive this kind of recognition. It’s one thing finding exceptional wines; it’s another to bring them to the market at truly affordable prices.”
