Nisa-Today’s elects new board members

High profile members of the Nisa Members Association, Ian Hunt and Mark Proudfoot, failed to be elected to the Nisa-Today¹s board at the AGM last month.

Held in Lincolnshire, this year’s meeting saw 19 candidates vying for nine places on the board in what is traditionally a political hot house.

The board saw the election of Nisa retailer Peter Bellini, a triple award-winner at the 2006 Retail Industry Awards.

Also newly elected was Atul Amin, managing director Vrad Limited, Harry
Tuffins managing director Paul Delves and S-Mart director Mohammad Saleem.

Other retailers voted onto the board included Michael’s Foodmarkets director Jas Sunner and Prakash Thakrar, owner of HT & Co Drinks. Mark Windebank, managing director of Savage & Whitten, also claimed a seat.

Non executive chairman Raj Chatha and his deputy, Stephen Jempson, were both re-elected to the board.

Chatha, who put himself up again having taken up the post following Edwin Booth¹s resignation in April, said the changes were positive for Nisa.

He said: “The members have spoken in the way that they have elected their directors and this outcome clearly shows that the members wish to unite, move forward and make the company the best it can be.”
