Own-label is fuelling the growth in sales at Landmark Wholesale depots, according to managing director Martin Williams.
The June figures for the group showed own-label sales grew by 16.2%, with year-on-year sales up 15.1%. Total sales out from depots were up 10.5% in June compared with year-on-year growth of 9.2%.
The month took in the first half of the World Cup and sales of alcohol grew by 16.5% during June, with cigarettes sakes up 9.3%.
Williams said the buoyant own-label sales were a “reflection of the strength of the range and recent initiatives to further develop own-brand”.
“These results reflect the continued importance of independents and Landmark Wholesale’s place as a leading supplier of this sector,” he said. “We are looking forward to an excellent year ahead with various initiatives in the pipleline
“The launches of No3 Hand Rolling Tobacco and La Flamenca value-for-money Spanish table wines will help to maintain the momentum in own-brand,” said Williams. “The expansion of the highly successful Lifestyle Express retail development programme promises to deliver excellent returns for both our [wholesale] members and retailers.”
